2. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE 

Participatory approaches:
To improve HIV/STIs in two-and-a half-years period community based prevention and sexual health for ethnic minorities (e.g. ROMA) and migrant groups through capacity building in participatory prevention models.     

3. DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK

After a rapid situation assessment survey an exchange seminar in Sofia will outline participatory methods and practice in needs assessment and training of community outreach workers. Focus is laid on effective use of needs assessment with community’s involvement. Upon that a first training seminar in Bucharest will build capacity to implement the evidence-based method of POL (popular opinion leader) applied successfully by HESED in ROMA ethnic communities and developed by the Centre for AIDS Intervention and Research at the Medical College of Wisconsin. A second training seminar in Vienna will build capacity in partners to implement additional two identified effective models for community based prevention. The identified three best practices will be elaborated in a manual of effective intervention models for participatory HIV/STI community based prevention among migrant and ethic minority groups and will be published.

4. DELIVERABLES PRODUCED

D9: 2 training seminars in 3 good practice models in participatory HIV/AIDS prevention for ethnic minority/migrant groups.
